SITUATION REPORT

Monday, 13 November 2006

 

FOOTBRIDGE UPDATE:  Meralco relocated the 34.5 KV cables and secondary lines on the deck of the footbridge from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. last Sunday, 12 November (see pictures below).

Footbridge landing:  Concreting the path walk in front of the pedestrian gate to the footbridge that connects to the  existing path walk was completed last Thursday, 9 November as shown below.  The guardhouse (rightmost picture) was put up the following day, Friday, 10 November.

Improvements in the footbridge landing has also been done by the Quezon City government.  Plants were planted this morning.  Please see pictures below.

The footbridge is substantially completed but has not been turned over yet and cannot be used.  Quezon City will be announcing the inauguration date of the footbridge.

 

NORTHWEST CARPARK:  Clearing of the typhoon debris (tree trunks and branches) is taking longer than planned.

Before:  Pictures taken Friday, 3 November of branches temporarily stocked on the far end of the Northwest carpark.  Parking space has been reduced by debris.

After:  Pictures taken of the same area last Friday, 10 November of cleared Northwest Carpark. 

The pile of wooden debris is a fire hazard.  Since controlled burning is not an option, the debris will be cut into firewood size in the next two weeks.  Bakeries and charcoal vendors will be invited to collect them.    

 

TRAFFIC & PARKING:  The construction of the Leong Center that is scheduled to start next month will require adjustments in parking arrangements and campus traffic flow.  Specifically:  

 

1.      The West carpark will be occupied by the Leong Center.  

2.      The 88 parking slots for faculty, staff and visitors will be relocated to the North carpark.

3.      The section of the Northwest Carpark closest to auxiliary road parallel to University Road will be assigned to student driven cars.  A guard will be assigned there to ensure that only student driven cars park there.

  1.. New egress for vehicles coming from the Grade School to Gate 3.5 using the diversion road (parallel to Katipunan between Gate 2 and Gate 3).
  2.. Current entrance and exit ramp to West carpark that will be closed shortly after ground breaking of Leong Center on 4 December.
  3.. Section of the Northwest Carpark exclusively for student driven cars only.
  4.. North carpark where  faculty, staff and visitor parking will be relocated.
