FAKE P10 COIN

A graduate student received a fake P10.00 coin at the College Cafeteria yesterday. Fortunately, he noticed the irregular features of the fake coin and reported the incident. The student claim, this is the second time he received a fake coin. The College Cafeteria management apologized for the incident and immediately refunded the student.

The University Bursar was informed of the incident. She conducted a spot check of the cashiers' collection for the day. One of the cashiers unknowingly received a fake P10.00 coin from an unidentified student.

Fake coin attached to the magnet. Genuine coin was placed beside the magnet for close-up comparison. Note that the groves on the fake coin are irregular and shallow.

The engraving on the fake coin is not as clear as the genuine coin. Also, there is a pronounced gap between the outer ring and the core.

All Ateneo and College Cafeteria cashiers have been issued magnets to test P5.00 and P10.00 coins. The community is cautioned to be on the lookout for fake coins.
