The Ateneo has been working on "closing the gaps" --- closing the gap
between the rich and the poor in the country, closing the gap between
ourselves and the public schools and closing the gap between the Ateneo
and schools in Southeast Asia. It is along this goal that the Ateneo has
involved in Gawad Kalinga, in work with the Department of Education and
in benchmarking effort with Singapore schools.

To strengthen efforts at benchmarking with Singapore, the Ateneo de Manila
University has invited Dr. Lee Peng Yee of the National Institute of
Education in Singapore to have a workshop entitled "Strategic Directions
for Development of School Leaders and Teachers". He will be sharing what
the NIE does in the areas of leadership development and teacher
development. In addition, this workshop also aims to discuss the
strategic directions for the Ateneo de Manila in these two areas.

This workshop will be participated in by the leadership teams of the Grade
School and High School as well as key people of the Loyola Schools. The
workshop will be a one-day activity. It will, however, be conducted on
two days, November 13 and 14, 2006 at the John Pollock Renewal Center.
