This exhibition is co-presented by Metro Society, Power Plant Mall,
Rockwell Land, Smart Infinity and YStyle-The Philippine Star, and forms
part of Power Plant Mall's "Focus on the Arts 2006" Program. It is
supported by the Australian Embassy in Manila, Bega, National Dairy, Jam
88.3, Wave 89.1 and NU 107. Special thanks to National Artist Arturo Luz

Smart subscribers who view the exhibition at Power Plant Mall have the
opportunity to participate in "Art Smart", an innovative service of Smart
Communications, Inc., the country's leading wireless telecommunications
company, in partnership with the Ateneo Art Gallery, the country's
premier museum of modern Philippine art, bringing contemporary Philippine
art to a wider audience.

The "Art Smart" service allows subscribers to vote for their favorite
candidate for the 2006 Ateneo Art Awards, receive an MMS image of the
selected artist's work (participating artists earn a royalty for every
successful MMS download), and get a text message explaining the finer
points of the work. The artist receiving the highest number of votes
during the exhibition at Power Plant Mall will be presented with the "Art
Smart Texter's Choice" Award during the 2006 Ateneo Art Awards ceremony on
8 August 2006.

There will be a set schedule of tours conducted by Ateneo Art Gallery
staff that visitors to the exhibition at Power Plant Mall may avail of
free of charge:

NATIONAL ARTIST ARTURO LUZ DONATES ARTWORK TO RAISE FUNDS FOR FUTURE
ATENEO ART AWARDS

As the highly-anticipated Ateneo Art Awards exhibition opens tomorrow, and
the awards ceremony draws near, the Ateneo Art Gallery is pleased to
announce that National Artist Arturo Luz has very generously donated
"Black Sun over Rajasthan," 2006, acrylic on board, 50.8 x 86.36 cm., for
a silent auction to endow future Ateneo Art Awards.

This gift is a stirring endorsement of the Awards, which seeks to
recognize the achievements of young modern and contemporary Filipino
visual artists annually, and develop new audiences for their work.

The minimum bid amount is P 150,000. A picture of the work is available on

Auction Rules

1. The auction will be open for silent bidding from 24 July till 8 August
2006.
a. From 1 - 7 August, the artwork may be viewed at the R1 Bridgeway,
Power Plant Mall and the bid form received at the 2006 Ateneo Art Awards
Front Desk during mall hours.
b. On 8 August, the artwork may be viewed at the Rockwell Tent beginning
6:30 in the evening and the bid form received at the 2006 Ateneo Art
Awards Front Desk between 6:30 - 7:30 pm. The deadline for submission of
the silent bid form is 7:30 pm on 8 August.
2. Minimum bid for the artwork is P150,000.
3. Time and date of bid is to be filled up by a member of the Ateneo Art
Gallery Staff upon receipt of bid form. Each bidder receives a form
indicating the order in which his/her bid was received (1 for 1st bid, 2
for 2nd bid and so on). In case two or more bidders bid an identical
amount, the earlier bid will take precedence.
4. Highest and winning bidder will pay the amount indicated in his/her bid
form.
5. The winning bidder will be announced at the Rockwell Tent on 8 August
2006 during the program of the 2006 Ateneo Art Awards Ceremony which
begins at 7:30 pm.
6. Payment must be made within five working days after the sale and in
Philippine pesos.
7. Check should be payable to the ATENEO DE MANILA UNIVERSITY. The artwork
cannot be released to the buyer until the check has been cleared by the
bank. Credit cards not accepted.


SMART COMMUNICATIONS AND THE ATENEO ART GALLERY LAUNCH "ART SMART" AT THE
ATENEO ART AWARDS 2006 OUTBOUND EXHIBITION

The Ateneo Art Gallery, the country's premier museum of modern Philippine
art, and Smart Communications, the country's leading wireless
telecommunications service provider, launch "Art Smart," an innovative
service for the 2006 Ateneo Art Awards, bringing modern and contemporary
Philippine art to a wider audience.

During the exhibit run of "Ateneo Art Awards 2006: Outbound" at the
North Court, Power Plant Mall from 1 - 7 August 2006, Smart subscribers
may vote for the participating artist of their choice. The winner of the
"Art Smart Texter's Choice" Award will be announced during the Awards
Ceremony at Rockwell Tent, 8 August, 6:30 pm.

When a subscriber votes for an artist for the first time, he/she will get
an MMS image of the artist's artwork on exhibit with accompanying text
elaborating on the finer points of the work for added appreciation. The
first vote will give the artist five (5) points and each succeeding SMS
vote will earn the artist one (1) point. Subscribers may vote for more
than one artist and vote as many times as he/she wishes.

A subscriber will be charged P15 when voting for a particular artist for
the first time and P2.50 for each succeeding SMS vote. The artist
receiving the vote will receive a royalty for every successful MMS
download.

To vote for a particular artist, subscribers must key in ART <number
corresponding to the artist in the exhibition> and send to 299.

Participating artists are Maya Muñoz, Rodel Tapaya, Mideo Cruz, Jevijoe
Vitug, Anton del Castillo, Marina Cruz, Wawi Navarroza and Jay Ticar.
Art Smart MMS downloads of the artists' works will also be available
during the exhibition run at the Ateneo Art Gallery from 16 August - 21
September 2006.
