Graduate Student Scholarships in Environmental and Civil Engineering
* Clarifications from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)

        On June 9, 2006, our office issued an announcement (please see below) on graduate student scholarships in Environmental and Civil Engineering at the Kongju National University, Republic of Korea. In response to concerns expressed by prospective applicants, the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has sent the following clarifications:

  1.. There is no age limit for the graduate program
  2.. The Statement of Purspose or study plan should not exceed five (5) pages.
  3.. Sample research papers of the applicants are helpful, but not mandatory, for admission.
  4.. TOEFL and physical examination results are not required for the admission process.
  5.. Applications must be accompanied by a two-page application form which may be obtained from the KOICA office or requested through email by contacting (02)8118268.

                                                KONGJU NATIONAL UNIVERSITY, REPUBLIC OF KOREA
Graduate Student Scholarships in Environmental and Civil Engineering   
     
The Ministry of Education in the Republic of Korea has organized a Graduate Student Program which will begin in the Spring Semester, March 2007, at the Kongju National University, with lectures conducted entirely in English. They are offering scholarships for Masteral and Doctorate degree programs in the following fields:

  a.. Structural Engineering
  b.. Geotechnical Engineering
  c.. Environmental Engineering
  d.. Water Resources Engineering
  e.. Transportation Engineering
  f.. Urban Planning and Design
    Interested applicants may submit the following documents to the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) not later than July 30, 2006:
  1.. Application form
  2.. Certificate of completion of a bachelor's program
  3.. Official transcripts from colleges or universities previously attended, minimum requirement for grade point average is 3.0
  4.. Recommendation letter from the applicant's academic advisor
  5.. Statement of purpose (free format): Study plan
    The living expenses of the accepted students shall be sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education as part of the Brain-Korea 21 program. Aside from providing an annual support of US$8,400 as living expenses to the students, the Ministry shall also shoulder tuition and housing fees at the university dormitory.
