The strong peso and the surging stock prices are meaningless if
they do not positively affect the lives of the majority. Yet,
government claims that an economic takeoff is imminent. And that
the strong peso and surging stock prices are initial signs that we
 are headed towards that direction.

On the political front, the political stalemate among the political
parties, the continuing question on the legitimacy of the present
government, the major recommendations of the Concom are but some
issues that also need to be understood.

This quarter's Eagle Watch Briefing will lead the audience to
understand these issues: whether the rosy headline statistics
that highlight the financial bullishness reflect the true state
of the real economy , whether there is basis for the much-touted
claim of an economic take-off, and whether the recent political
developments will finally arrest questions on the legitimacy of
 the present leadership.
