The Office of International Programs invites all interested students to apply for the Asia Institute for Political Economy (AIPE) in Hongkong during the summer of 2006.

The Fund for American Studies, in partnershi with georgetown University and the University of Hong Kong, take pride in presenting the Asia Institute for Political Economy in Hongkong during the summer of 2006. AIPE is Asia's premier political economy program. Based in Hong Kong, the program offers a dynamic and unique opportunity for students from Asia and the U.S> to delve into serious political and economic issues facing their countries. Students are engaged in a rigorous academic course and also participate in stimulating lectures given by the region's most esteemed experts. Both undergraduate and graduate credit is given by Georgetown University upon successful completion of the program. 


1.  Program Costs & Administration Policies

  a..    All students must apply online using the online application form on the internet website at www.tfasinternational.org. Any required application materials that cannot be sent through the website must be sent by post or faw to the Fund for American Studies or The University of Hong Kong and must arrive no later than the respective admission deadlines. The website contains regularly updateed information about the Institute.
  b.. All students wil be required to pay a minimum of $500 (USD), which will go towards tuition, meals, housing, CD-Rom for reading materials and special events. The actual cost of the program is more than $3,500(USD) per student. 
2. Program Duration
  a.. July 28, 2006 - August 19, 2006
3. Required items
  a..  One letter of recommendation from a professor who taught you: One page, typed on letterhead with all the contact information of the person recommending.
  b.. Resume or curriculum vitae: Typed, one-page, must be in outline format with at least the following heading: Education, Work Experience and Activities
  c.. A typed essay not to exceed 500 words on the following topics: Describe an economic or political problem facing your country and how you would solve it.
  d.. An essay no to exceed 500 words: stating your reasons for applying, what would you like to gain by attending and how you could contribute to the institute.
  e.. Proof of english proficiency; any one of the following:
            TOEFL or IELTS Score: please enclose a copy of the examinee's score record
                Official Certificate of English Proficiency
                Letter from a professor of English stating your level of spoken and written english. Including that person's ability to verify your englisg proficiency.
                (This letter must include the name, address and telephone number of the person writing)
  a.. An official Transcript of Records (TO BE MAILED to The Fund for American Studies or the University of Hong Kong
4. Deadline for Application 
  a.. Early Deadline: January 31, 2006
  b.. Final Deadline: March 15, 2006
