[Blueboard] LAST CALL FOR PROPOSALS: IPC Merit Research Awards

The Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC) announces the last call for proposals for the IPC Merit Research Awards. With funds provided by the Ford Foundation, the IPC seeks to advance theoretically grounded social science research. The awards are open to full-time academic and research staff of the Ateneo de Manila University.
The research priority areas are as follows:
* Religious change and transformation
* Families, childhood, youth, and aging
* Culture, political leadership, and state power
* Critical analysis of citizenship and civil society
* Forms of governance
* Corporations and private authority
* Social dynamics of agriculture and the environment
* Articulations of the global-local nexus
* The coexistence of 'modernity' and 'tradition'
Proposals for the study of other theoretical concerns not specified above must first be cleared with the IPC before submission.
Research proposals must not exceed 2,500 words. It should present a clearly stated research question, the proposed study's theoretical significance, and its research methods.
Research projects may start in the second semester of academic year 2005-2006. Research projects must be completed within twelve (12) months. The maximum research award is P500,000. Successful applicants are assured of honoraria.
The IPC Merit Research Awards are granted on a competitive basis.
The deadline for submission of research proposals and completed application forms is on November 7, 2005. Applicants who are permanent academic staff of the University are expected to submit a parallel application to the Loyola Schools Scholarly Works Grants for a reduction in teaching load.
