The Ateneo de Manila University-Rizal Library will host an international
conference on the "Challenges in Preserving and Managing Cultural Heritage
Resources" from 19-21 October 2005 at the Walter Hogan Conference Center,
Institute of Social Order (ISO), Loyola Heights campus, Quezon City.

The conference will bring together acclaimed experts from Asia, the
United States, Canada and Australia, in the areas of preservation,
conservation, and management of cultural heritage resources. It features
twelve distinguished speakers and six poster presenters making this
gathering a genuine opportunity for intellectual exchange and growth.

This event was conceptualized in response to the call for a greater
understanding of the need to manage and preserve our cultural heritage
resources. By addressing key issues and trends from the perspective of
information professionals from around the world, the conference aims to
provide the participants with a more critical and informed perspective
and appropriate skills in the management, preservation, and marketing of
cultural heritage resources. Ultimately, it aims to open up opportunities
for developing a national cultural heritage repository, and for networking
and partnership with libraries and information centers worldwide for
preservation and conservation activities.

The conference is open to librarians, archivists, museum curators,
conservators, information professionals, and students of library science,
archives and records management, history and anthropology.
