You are warmly invited to a launching of three books by renowned writer Gregorio Brillantes on Wednesday, November 16, 2005, 5.30 pm, at the UP Balay Kalinaw, Diliman, Quezon City.

Chronicles of Interesting Times (Anvil), The Cardinal’s Sins, the General’s Cross, the Martyr’s Testimony and other Affirmations (Ateneo Press), and Looking for Jose Rizal in Madrid (UP Press) are collections of essays that span decades of a life wholeheartedly dedicated to writing.

Of Brillantes, historian and critic Miguel Bernad, S.J., has said: “the cultured Filipino intellectual with a cosmopolitan perspective, but who loves the big and little things of home and homeland; the devout Christian who yet is a critical observer, the man who appreciates beauty but can laugh tolerantly at the clumsy and ridiculous. Brillantes has not been given the title, but in reality and in actual fact, this superb writer is a genuine Filipino National Artist.”

The books are available individually at branches of National Bookstore, the UP Press bookshop (9253244), and the Ateneo Press bookshop (4265984).
