Watch BIYAHENG HANGAD on July 16
For the benefit of the World Youth Day 2005 delegation
of the Sta Maria della Strada Parish Youth Ministry
The Sta Maria della Strada (SMDS) Parish Youth Ministry invites everyone
a fund-raising concert featuring the music group Hangad, at the SMDS
Parish Church, Katipunan Road cor.
Pansol St., Quezon City at 8 PM on Saturday, July 16.
Through BIYAHENG HANGAD, the Parish Youth Ministry aims to raise funds
for the trips of five of its
underprivileged members to Cologne, Germany, for the World Youth Day
2005 celebrations this August. During
the World Youth Day celebrations, these representatives from SMDS, along
with Catholic youth from all over
the world, will join the Pope in celebrations of the Holy Mass,
catecheses, and a youth festival.
Hangad is a group of students and young professionals, bound in
friendship by their desire to know and
help others know God through music. Over the years, Hangad has recorded
four albums under the Jesuit
Music Ministry: Hangad (2000), Hangad A Cappella (2002), Pasko Naming
Hangad (2002), and The Easter
Journey (2005). The group has also staged numerous concerts, including
a recently completed US tour;
and released three music videos: "Pananatili" (2002), "Simeon's
Canticle" (2004), and "Magnificat
(Ang Puso Ko'y Nagpupuri)" (2004).
No stranger to SMDS, Hangad has also sung for the 10:30 AM Mass at the
SMDS Parish Church on the
fourth Sunday of every month for the past 12 years.
With BIYAHENG HANGAD, Hangad promises a musical evening that is both
entertaining and inspiring,
with a repertoire encompassing favorites such as "Bridge Over Troubled
Water", as well as familiar songs
from Hangad's albums such as "Panunumpa" (popularized by Carol Banawa),
the group's a cappella version
of "Magnificat (Ang Puso Ko'y Nagpupuri)" by Fr. Eddie Hontiveros SJ,
and the solemn prayer "One Thing I Ask."
The SMDS Parish Youth Ministry is a group of young parishioners who
organize monthly prayer activities,
summer art classes, sportsfests, educational scholarships, and Landas ng
Paglilingkod (a program which trains
street children to be traffic enforcers around the parish church) for
fellow youth in the parish.
Tickets to BIYAHENG HANGAD are available at SMDS parish office and at
the parish church entrances
at P200 each. For ticket information, please call the parish office at
02 929 7790; or contact Vivian
