API Fellowships application ends August 31  

Applications for The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public 
Intellectuals (API Fellowships) for 2006-2007 will be accepted only until 
August 31, 2005. 

Applicants propose a research project, which may be conducted at any of the 
four other countries where the fellowships are offered: Indonesia, Japan, 
Malaysia, and Thailand. Project themes are: Changing identities and their 
social, historical, and cultural contexts; Reflection on the human condition 
and the search for social justice; and the Current structure of globalization 
and possible alternatives.

Accepted fellows are provided transportation, housing, stipend, insurance, 
and research allowance (for computers, books, and other materials). 
 
The fellowships are open to social workers, NGO members, public servants, 
academics, researchers, media professionals, artists, creative writers, and 
others who work in the public sphere and wish to contribute creative ideas for 
the improvement of society. In conducting their research, API fellows are able 
to broaden their expertise and develop regional linkages.
