*Removal of Drilon inevitable --- Miriam* (manilastandardonline.com)

Senator Franklin Drilon's days as president of the Upper Chamber are
numbered and Malacañang will not lift a finger to make him stay a day
longer.

One of the lawmakers reportedly being considered to replace Drilon,
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago, yesterday said the Senate president's
ouster is inevitable because it is "anomalous." It is anomalous for an
opposition senator to remain as Senate president when the majority is
composed of administration senators. This kind of political equation
does not compute, because administration bills would be logjammed,"
Santiago said in a statement.

*Drilon ready to reconcile with GMA if reforms real **(philstar.com)*

Saying there is nothing personal in his call for President Arroyo to
resign, Senate President Franklin Drilon welcomed yesterday her efforts
to reconcile -- provided that her gesture is accompanied by real reforms.

"Any reconciliation, therefore, must be anchored on the institution of
needed reforms that will address the current political storm and avert
the looming economic crisis," Drilon said.

*Shun politics, **Manila** prelate advises priests*
(manilastandardonline.com)

Did Jesus liberate the people from the clutches of Ceasar?

This was the question posed by Manila Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales to
his priests as he enjoined his clergy to avoid politics.

According to Rosales, the clergy should focus on ministering to the
people instead of dabbling in politics "just like Jesus Christ who opted
not to fight Rome and instead spent his three-year active ministry to
feed the hungry, heal the sick and teach human values."

*Palace: Rufino letter refuting Zuce claims is 'authentic' *(inq7.net)

Despite his illness, a former Malacañang liaison officer's letter
refuting an ex-staff member's allegations of poll fraud against
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is "authentic," a presidential adviser
said Tuesday. "The letter is authentic," Presidential political adviser
Gabriel Claudio said on radio amid questions on Joey Rufino's capacity
to issue the letter because of his physical condition.

*Shares close flat on consolidation *(XFN-Asia)*
*
SHARE prices closed little changed after anemic trading on Tuesday, with
investors largely staying on the sidelines due to renewed political
concerns, while others pocketed gains from the market's rise to a
five-week high last week, dealers said.

The composite index closed up 2.16 points at 1,985.09 on volume of
222.55 million shares worth 698.5 million pesos. It traded between
