4TH CHINESE PROFICIENCY COMPETITION
FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS
12 April 2005
In cooperation with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China and the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, the Ateneo de Manila University Chinese Studies Program will be hosting the 4th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students on June 27, 2005, Monday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Escaler Hall of the Loyola Schools. The competition is open to all currently registered college students of any Philippine college or university, regardless of where they studied Mandarin and their ethnicity. Each participant will be asked to prepare a 5-minute speech on the theme of "China, A Land of Spectacular Beauty," and a cultural presentation.
Three winners will be selected by the board of judges composed of language professors from Mainland China. Cash prizes await the winners. The first-place winner will represent the Philippines in the world semi-finals and finals to be held in Beijing in July. Scholarships and free trips to China await the winners of the finals.
Interested participants should submit the filled-up application form to the Ateneo Chinese Studies Program by June 17, 2005. Applications are also accepted at the Cultural Office of the Chinese Embassy and the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center. For inquiries, please call Ritchie or Lyn at 426-6001 local 5208.
