Dear friends of JVP in the Ateneo community,

Money isn't everything, it is true.  But it is also true that JVP can't 
run without money.  

The JVP Central Office has expanded its Resource Development Office from 
one position to two to escalate fund-raising efforts.  The Head Resource 
Development Officer oversees the over-all resource development and 
directly takes charge of solicitations and grant-seeking.  Other 
fund-raising activities/projects are handled by the other fund-raiser, the 
Resource Development Officer for Special Projects.

The Central Office is in need of a Resource Development Officer for 
Special Projects.    Please find below the job description for the 
position and the qualities of an effective RDO:              


GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION: Conceptualizing, developing, implementing, 
monitoring, and evaluating a fund-raising strategy that will help achieve 
the Foundation's short-term and long-term financial goals.


Prospect Identification 
- Researching and identifying viable special projects for fund-raising 
other than soliciting donations and seeking grants

Proposal Writing 
- Writing special project proposals for fund-raising to corporations, 
foundations, private & public organizations, religious institutions, and 

Engagement Activities
- Coordinating and implementing sustained fund-raising projects (e.g., 
tie-ups with sales/marketing companies where a portion of the proceeds is 
donated to JVP) 
- Coordinating special fund-raising events (e.g. concerts, dinners, 
exhibits, tiangge)
- Overseeing alumni fund-raising initiatives/activities other than 
- Coordinating fund-raising efforts during Foundation events (i.e. Mission 
Mass, General Assembly, Grand Reunion)
- Coordinating local and overseas parish appeals
- Coordinating employee-giving in various settings
- Marketing and selling JVP merchandise (postcards, t-shirts, remitcards)
- Overseeing, training, and mobilizing the JVP Fundraising team for 
efforts other than solicitations

Receiving and Recording
- Collecting check or cash proceeds from special projects and issuing 
- Maintaining and updating a database of special projects and people 
involved in the project 

- Acknowledging the generosity of project partners (i.e., through letters, 
emails, token gifts, or phone calls)
- Writing and sending reports on outcomes of the project (i.e. sponsor 
reports, annual reports) and annual fund-raising reports
- Sending various materials to project partners (e.g. newsletters, cards, 

- Formulating the Fundraising Plan for Special Projects and their 
Assessment for each year and submitting these to the Resource Development 
Officer for consolidation in the overall plan and assessment for each year
- Providing input for the JVP Website
- Coordinating with the Resource Development Officer for identification of 
special project partners/targets and monitoring funds raised in 
consideration of fund requirements
- Performing such other functions and tasks as may be reasonably required 
by the Executive Director   


-     believes in and supports the JVP cause and program
- has good and convincing writing skills, especially business writing; 
enjoys writing (this constitutes 80% of the job)
- highly organized
- pays attention to detail
- willing to take calculated risks (i.e., experiments on new fund-raising 
- preferably from a management-related course (with background in 
marketing, branding, sales, making proposals)
- relates well with people
