The ASIA Fellows Awards (ASF) is now accepting applications.  The ASF is funded by a grant from the Ford Foundation. The awards offer opportunities for outstanding young and mid-career Asian scholars and professionals and enable awardees to study or conduct research in a participating country for six (6) to nine (9) months.

    Goals and Objective:  

    A.  To increase the overall awareness of intellectual resources in the People's Republic of China and the countries of South and          Southeast Asia.
    B.  To contribute to the growth of long-range capabilities for cross-regional knowledge sharing.
    C.  To develop regional expertise, establish a multi-network of Asian specialists from many disciplines, professional fields and              countries.
    D.  To stimulate interdisciplinary research and inter-societal comparison.
    E.  To contribute to new developments within existing area studies communities.

    Examples of recent ASIA Fellows Awards:

        1.  "China's Changing Perceptions of Southeast Asia in the Reform Era", Malaysian lecturer
        2.  "Religion of the Chams:  An Anthropological Study on Vernacular Hinduism in Vietnam", Indian Research Fellow
        3.  "Comparative Study of Rural Elderly Support Between China and Thailand", Chinese Professor
