CUENTOS FILIPINOS by Jose Montero y Vidal will be launched on June 22, 2004,
from 4.30 pm, at the Pardo de Tavera Room, Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila

Edited by Renan S. Prado and Lourdes C. Brillantes, CUENTOS FILIPINOS is a
collection of short stories, translated into English from  Spanish by Prado,
Evelyn Soriano, Heide Aquino and Shirley Torres. The collection brings  to life
 nineteenth-century Philippines as we read "Enriqueta," The Sultana of Jolo,"
"The Pirate Li-Ma-Hong," "Chang Chuy's Umbrella," among others. The author,
José Montero y Vidal, was a distinguished historian of the Spanish era.

Jointly published by the Department of Modern Languages of the School  of
Humanities, Loyola Schools, Office of the President, and the Program for
Cultural Cooperation, CUENTOS FILIPINOS is distributed by the Ateneo de Manila
University Press: 02-4265984, 4266001 ext 4612/3/6, or unipress at admu.edu.ph.
