The Department of Information Systems and Computer Science proudly announces that
Carlos-Miguel Arguelles (4CS), Allan Espinosa (3ECE), and Mark Punzalan (3CS)
has advanced to the
ACM International Collegiate Programming Competition (ACM-ICPC) World Finals
April 3-7, 2005
The ACM ICPC is the most prestigious programming competition in the world. During the Manila regionals held at the University of Asia and the Pacific last November, Res Cogitans placed second to the University of Tokyo. Yesterday, the organizers confirmed that Res Cogitans had a slot in Shanghai, making them the first Filipino team to compete in the World Finals.
They will be going head-to-head against formidable opponents from all over the world: the University of Tokyo, Shainghai Jiaotong, Carnegie Mellon, CalTech, Virginia Tech, MIT. We ask for the University community's prayers and support--the team and the coaches will need them.
