The Institute of Philippine Culture (IPC), Ateneo de Manila University

and the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ)

are co-sponsoring a forum on

"The Vote of the Poor"

that will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 26,

at the Audio-Visual Room of the Social Development Complex,

Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

The forum will present the results of focus-group discussions conducted by the IPC in 16 urban and rural poor areas in the country. The study seeks to answer such questions as: What do the poor think of elections? How do they make their choices? How much influence do the media exert on them? What to them are the traits of a good leader?

The forum this coming Monday will include reactions from an urban poor leader and representatives from the academe, government, business, and political parties.

Most of the media so far have covered mainly the candidates. Not enough attention has been focused on the voters themselves and their aspirations and considerations. This forum will try to fill in the gap.

To confirm your attendance, kindly contact

Cecille Bartolome at 426 6067 or 426 6068 or send an email to cbartolome at ateneo.edu.

Thank you, and we hope to see you at the forum.
