Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc. (JVPFI), it is with much excitement that we announce the appointment of Atty. Josephine G. Maribojoc as the incoming Executive Director of the Jesuit Volunteers Philippines Foundation, Inc. (JVPFI). Her term will begin on May 1, 2004.

Jo graduated from the Ateneo de Manila University in 1992 (AB Philosophy). She then joined Batch 13 of JVP and was sent to Anao-aon, Surigao del Norte as a classroom instructor for the San Nicolas High School. After her JVP year, she obtained her law degree at the U.P. while simultaneously maintaining part-time lecturer status teaching Philosophy of the Human Person at the ADMU. Upon obtaining her law degree, she joined the Sycip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan law offices from 1998-1999 before joining the Supreme Court of the Philippines as a Court Attorney in the Office of Justice Reynato S. Puno. From 2000-2002 (while still with the Supreme Court) she took courses in De La Salle University and finished her 2nd post-graduate degree (Master of Education, Major in School Leadership). Her long-term vision is to contribute to macro-level education reform in the Philippines. As such, she will be continuing her educational law practice (i.e., law practice focused on education is
sues) while holding the position of JVPFI Executive Director.

In recent years, she has remained an active member of the JVP community who has constantly contributed volunteer time and effort in developing and implementing JVP's teacher-training program and by conducting several studies that aided in improving JVP's service program.

The JVP Foundation is now blessed to be engaging (in a professional capacity) Jo's eminently competent and visionary leadership fueled by her passion for humble, excellent service.

On a parallel note, we would like to thank the outgoing Executive Director, Mark L. Lopez for the invaluable service he has rendered to JVPFI in the past two and a half years. As you may know, he tendered his resignation from JVPFI in light of his application to the Society of Jesus. We are pleased to inform you that he has been accepted to enter the Sacred Heart Novitiate this May 2004.

Your prayers are requested for JVP especially for its incoming and outgoing leaders and the incoming batch of volunteers.

Thank you very much.
