In the run up to the DECODE exhibition opening on 25 June, the Ateneo Art
Gallery warmly invites you to participate in two Computer Society of Ateneo
(CompSAt) summer workshops through five Saturdays in May!
Linux + Knoppix : A Beginner's Path
This workshop teaches the basics of Linux from the perspective of a Windows
user using Knoppix, an easy to use Linux distribution that boot runs completely
from CD. It aims to equip the student with skills necessary to migrate from
Windows to the Linux desktop environment and perform essential tasks such as
basic UNIX commands, managing files, word processing, music, Internet, e-mail,
programming and more.

Computational Media Design Workshop
Media Arts and Sciences a.k.a. Computer Science + Visual Arts XXX
A five week workshop that serves as an introduction to the principles of
computing and visual arts. An integrative environment is presented to untangle
creativity through the synthesis and analysis of the computational medium.
Processing is used as the base software for instruction. Hands-on design
exercises are continually framed and examined in the larger context of
contemporary digital art. Final projects from this workshop will be featured in
the DECODE (online) exhibition at the Ateneo Art Gallery
Presented in collaboration with the Ateneo Art Gallery, MIT Media Lab and
Interaction Design Institute Ivrea.

Certificates will be issued for every workshop attended.
