The MANILA OBSERVATOY, a Jesuit institution engaged in scientific research, 
invites applicants for the following position:

Project: Air Quality Geographic Information System

Job Description:

The Project Research Assistant shall report directly to the Manager of the 
Center for Environmental Geomatics of the Manila Observatory (MO).He/She will 
be responsible for the maintenance of the MO Air Quality Information System 
(AQIS)which incorporates relevant visual themes. He/She is expected to assist 
in urban population and urban land use mapping, in running a GIS software and 
in producing thematic maps, posters, project reports and technical papers.


- Bachelor's Degree preferably in the fields of Environmental Science, 
Environmental Planning and Management, Earth Sciences, Geography.
- Knowledge in Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS)
- Keen interest in social, economic and environmental concerns
- Proficient in oral and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills and a team worker
- Adequate computer skills e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, ERMapper and  
ArcView an advantage
