The eleventh edition of ArtSpeak, the Ateneo Art Gallery's continuing series of 
talks by significant art practitioners, features National Artist for Sculpture, 
Napoleon Abueva.  His talk on the development of his artistic style, 
titled "The Nature of Sculpture," is part of the lecture program for the "Zero-
In: Private Art, Public Lives" consortium project of the Ateneo Art Gallery, 
Ayala Museum, and the Lopez Memorial Museum. The event, sponsored by the Ateneo 
Library of Women's Writings (ALIWW) and Globe Telecom, is scheduled on Tuesday, 
8 October 2002, 4:30 p.m. at the university art museum's Inner Gallery. 

Mr. Abueva, formerly Dean of the U.P. College of Fine Arts, is represented in 
the Gallery's permanent collection by two early sculptures. One of 
these, "Judas Kiss" (1955), a work in adobe, was exhibited at Lyd Arguilla's 
Philippine Art Gallery, and is part of the Gallery's ongoing "Refiguring Modern 
Philippine Art" exhibit.

Admission to ArtSpeak is free and open to the public. Advanced booking is

The Ateneo Art Gallery is at the Ground Floor, Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila 
University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City. Museum hours: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to 
Friday; 8 am to 12 nn, Saturday; Closed on Sundays and holidays.
