SEASREP GRANTS:

1.  Regional Collaboration Grants - for April 1, 2003 to March 31, 2004
	- supports international collaborative research, comparative research, and 
other
	  activities that contribute to strengthening Southeast Asian studies in SEA.

      Deadline of application is no later than September 30, 2002.

2.   Southeast Asian Language Training Grants - for April 1, 2003 - March 
31, 2004
	- supports the study of a foreign Southeast Asian national or local 
language or a
	  source language through:  (a) a formally enrolled course, or (b) a 
non-degree course
	  with a private tutor duly accredited by a university or known 
institution.  The purpose
	  of the grant is to enable Southeast Asian graduate students and faculty 
members
	  to acquire proficiency in a Southeast Asian language (or source 
language) other
	  than their own for individual research, the institutional development of 
a Southeast
	  Asian course or program, or a teaching position.  (Please note that 
Malaysian 	  and Indonesian applicants are not eligible to apply for the 
study of each other's 	  languages.  Furthermore, Filipinos are not 
eligible to apply for the study of Spanish,
	  or Indonesian to study Dutch).

      Deadline of application is no later than 1 September 2002.

3.  The Luisa Mallari Fellowships for M.A. and Ph.D. Research in Southeast 
Asian Studies
      - for 1 April 2003 to 31 March 2004
	- the fellowship aims to encourage the study of a Southeast Asian country 
other than
	  one's own or a comparative study across the region by master's and doctoral
	  students.  The program supports course work and/or thesis research 
(documentary
	  research and field work) and thesis writing).

      Deadline of application is no later than 1 September 2002.
