   The MANILA OBSERVATORY, jesuit institution engaged in scientific research,
    invites applicants for appointment on a project basis for a USAID funded   
                                    program.

  PROGRAM TITLE: Developing Local, National and Regional Capacities to Sustain  
          Climate Change Initiatives in the Philippines and East Asia

PROGRAM RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Qualifications:
-Masteral Degree in any of the following fields:Environmental Science/
 Management, Geography, Environmental Economics/Development Economics, Urban and
 Regional Planning,International Studies,Development Studies, or other related
 fields
-At least five (5) years of experience in policy research and development;with 
 more than adequate experience in field research
-Extensive knowledge and understanding of the scientific and policy issues of 
 climate change (CC) and global warming,especially, knowledge/appreciation of 
 the international CC negotiation process
-Extensive experience in coordinating with different branches and levels of
 government, the private sector as well as civic society groups (academe, NGO's,
 community organizations, research groups)
-Excellent in written and oral communication skills in English
-Basic skills in budget management
-Proficient in the use of software applications (MS Word,Excel, Powerpoint,etc.)
-Willing to travel alone for field research work
-Good interpersonal skills and a team worker

TRAINING OFFICER
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields:Development Studies,Community
 Development, Development Communication, Education, Environmental Planning,
 Environmental Science or other related fields
-At least four(4) years of experience in developing and implementing social 
 development-oriented training programs
-Knowledge and experience in the conduct of training needs assessment (TNA)and 
 in developing training curriculum
-Highly knowledgeable in the various tools and aproaches in training
-Knowledge or experience in developing and implementing web-based training 
 programs is highly preferred
-Excellent in both oral and written communication skills in English
-Proficiency in the use of software applications (MS Word,Excel,Powerpoint or
 similar suites)
-Good interpersonal skills and a team worker

MARKETING AND PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields:Business Administration major
 in Marketing, Communication Research, Development Communication; MBA or any
 equivalent degree is a plus
-At least five(5) years of experience in product development and direct 
 marketing of products and services preferably in the fields of research and
 training
-Knowledge in conducting market research, needs assessment and in developing
 marketing plans
-Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
-Keen interest in social and environmental concerns
-Team worker but can work with minimal supervision
-Proficiency in the use of software applications (MS Office and Desktop
 Publishing e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Pagemaker)
